This journey to Murchison falls was booked as a family trip of seven members who have a passion for travel, Ugandans staying abroad but every end of the year come back to visit one of Uganda’s interesting destinations, this time around Murchison falls was their favorite park to visit, according to Madam Agatha who booked with us this 2 days safari tour, on phone call said, "We have been traveling to different destinations in Uganda with my husband but this time round I would like something special for my entire family but not too expensive- the 2-day program was preferred".

The agreement was reached on and the preferred travel dates were 20th-21st/Dec/18, to cut the story short a few days after booking was made. The awaited day was today before our guide and clients tell a story about Uganda’s oldest and largest park. This started like any other short safari tour, setting off from Kampala very early morning at 5:00 am to dodge Kampala traffic jam, having a first stopover in Luwero for breakfast and the Uganda Rolex was the favorite.
Then drove through Masindi and by around 10 am were checking in at the entry point of the park. The easing was based on whoever was interested before hitting the bumpy Murchison Falls road through budongo forest, one of Uganda’s largest forests.
Animals like baboons, monkeys, and different bird species were on the roadside welcoming visitors, our youngest client by the name of Evelyn Started a game challenge “who will see the giant (elephant)” first, this made the young princess more active and everyone on the trip.
On the bumpy journey to the top of the falls, road constructions were going on, so keeping a speed of 40 or even below was a must. In a few hours, we were at the top of the falls that make this park more attractive and interesting. A must-visit site, taking memorable pictures and enjoying the sound and sights, not missing the rainbow that is created by the mist of the falls. These falls are spectacular, being so close hearing the roar, and seeing the splendor from the top was such a wonderful experience. It’s “a sneak-peek into heaven”, you realize “the anger of the Nile” a true masterpiece of nature. Just imagine in a small space a million cubic meters of water from the Nile squeeze themselves through the Albertine gorge as they make their way towards Egypt.
This great river is 50 meters wide and goes through a 7-meter wide gorge plunging 45 meters creating that roaring sound that stays with, something you can’t forget while along with it and while here no one felt like leaving this place but we had to go and catch with our 2 pm lunch boat cruise with our packed lunch, one of the tour highlights.
It's like a no rest adventure but worthy having according to clients who were quoted saying “this marathon adventure is fun and Evelyn the youngest client on the trip added-“dad I feel like staying here many more days” while enjoying the crocodiles, hippos along the riverbank, birds, monkeys, buffaloes, as the boat was proceeding to bottom of falls Evelyn made an alarm “guys see an elephant ... I have won when -no one couldn't still remember the –elephant game ” another added fun and excitement on the tour.
Meanwhile, after an amazing boat cruise, we went for a short game drive towards pakwach enjoying the sunset, animals like giraffes, antelope, elephants, monkeys, and different bird species wishing us a good night. While at the hotel Wi-Fi login was the deal of the night for everyone to update social media platforms on how cool the trip is.
The magical day of the trip was 21st/Dec/2018, waking up early morning for breakfast, immediately after we set off for a morning game drive along the Lake Albert delta, abundant wildlife, as we moved slowly as the sun rises.
The sunrise welcomed the clients to Africa basing on what they saw, sensed, and felt hence heard them saying the world has only one Murchison falls with its amazing animals. The Giraffe was the first animal to be seen moving slowly. Proud with its bums like any other African woman, it couldn't tell clients paid to see it and it left everyone stranded not knowing that ahead there were thousands of them. After the Giraffe, animals like a warthog, monkeys, Impala, Uganda Kob, and many bird species were welcomed.
Another exciting moment was when spotted a lonely male Elephant. Basing on animal kingdom theory, this was either too old that handled over the responsibility to young ones or chased from others because of a ' wife. We had a stopover and everyone had a chance of ' taking selfies' with it from the open-roofed van!
When it started shaking its ears, a sign of an attack, it’s a moment to remember the videos on different social platforms showing when elephants are crashing cars. Thereafter we concentrated more on looking for the king of the jungle. The drive took us to different sections of the park as many guides continued asking us whether we have spotted the king and the answer was not yet.
While branching on the queen’s track, we started seeing signs that could show either the king is around or it has been around; everyone was advised to be more active. Fortunately, we saw two tour vehicles parked ahead as we were driving towards we spotted one.
This was the mother of excitement, after like three minutes, four of them came in and were playful with signs of hunting, the female crossed the road and came near to our vehicle, thereafter it rushed back and climbed a nearby tree, this was a big surprise to whoever was around because tree-climbing lions have been known to be in isasha section of queen Elizabeth national park.
This was the highlight of the trip who else wouldn’t like to take pics and have a self with the king, it wasn’t only lucky to see climbing lions but even seeing six of them was a blessing.
After having an amazing game drive, we were transferred back to the pakwach gate to checkout. On our way to Kampala via karuma falls we were welcomed by the usual residents (baboons) of Karuma falls there was some life to enjoy with them, as one of the baboons decided to jump onto our car, we couldn’t tell whether it wanted a lift to Kampala to avoid the high transport fees of the festival season, not knowing that the visitor wanted to check whether we have some eats and when it failed to see any the chap opted for a plan B of grabbing a phone. Chasing away this visitor resulted in a fight with our driver.
Those who have ever passed karuma falls can tell how amazing and serious these animals are, trying to check every vehicle passing by to see whether you have some sweet bananas, this was another bonus experience of the trip. Thereafter we drove heading to kabalega restaurant a popular stopover for lunch and thereafter we proceeded to Kampala hence calling it the end of the Murchison falls safari tour.
