Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrive at Kigali International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Kigali.

Depending on arrival time, enjoy an optional visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial for an introduction to Rwanda’s history.


Day 2: Transfer to Lake Kivu – Boat Cruise & Islands

After breakfast, depart Kigali for a scenic drive to Kibuye (Karongi), a beautiful lakeside town on Lake Kivu.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the lake:

  • Visit Napoleon Island, known for its large colony of fruit bats
  • Continue to Amahoro Island, famous for its peaceful setting and scenic views

Relax by the lakeshore in the evening.


Day 3: Environment Museum & Cultural Visit

After breakfast, visit the Environment Museum to learn about Rwanda’s ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation efforts.

Later, visit a local genocide memorial church around Kibuye for a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s history and resilience.

Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure by Lake Kivu—optional activities include swimming, kayaking, or relaxing at the beach.


Day 4: Return to Kigali – Departure

After breakfast, drive back to Kigali.

Depending on your flight time, enjoy last-minute shopping or a short city stop before transferring to the airport for departure.

Day 1

    Day 1: Arrival In Kigali And Transfer To The Hotel
    Arrival at the Kigali International Airport, meet and greet with the guide and give you a short briefing about the trip. Transfer to the Hotel, check in and acclimatize to the climate of Rwanda. Finally Dinner and overnight at Sinai Suites/ Onomo Hotel/ Mille Collines hotel.

Day 2

    Day 2: Transfer To Kibuye At The Lake Kivu And Boat Cruise To Visit Napoleon And Peace Islands.
    Breakfast then drive to Kibuye at the Lake Kivu. The Rwanda’s most attractive of lake ports, nestled in a series of interwoven and undulating hills and offering visitors spectacular. Views of the lake, its islands and the stunning surrounding countryside.
    It is considered one of Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with its lush green hills and peaceful breeze. Lunch and transfer to the shores of the Lake Kivu to enjoy a boat ride to the Napoleon and Peace Islands to see a number of colorful birds, clouds of big fruit bats, learn the history of the lake and the beautiful views of the Lake.
    Finally Overnight at Bethane hotel/ Moriah Resort/ Cormoran Lodge.

Day 3

    Day 3: Visit The Environment Museum And The Genocide Memorial Church
    Breakfast at the hotel later drive to the Environment museum which is located at the lake shores, it has educational displays about energy sources and the environmental impact of different types of fuel sources. There is also an excellent rooftop garden with a collection of native plants, each with explanations of their use in traditional medicine.
    Visit the Genocide memorial church located in Karongi town where many Tutsis were killed during Genocide.
    Overnight at Bethane hotel/ Moriah Resort/ Cormoran Lodge

Day 4

    Day 4: Transfer Back To Kigali And To Airport
    Breakfast at the hotel then drive back to Kigali and to Airport for the flight back home. END
